March 03:`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A police party of Police Post Wagoora headed by IC PP Wagoora at a checkpoint established at Takiya Wagoora, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Gurmeet Singh son of Ajit Singh resident of Singhbagh Baramulla. During search, 2.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in a handbag, was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Kreeri where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kreeri and investigations has been initiated.
