Police arrests 3 drug peddlers in Srinagar, contraband substance recovered

February 26: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 3 drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Khanyar led by SHO PS Khanyar intercepted three suspicious persons at Munawarabad Chowk near Dawood Khawki Bridge Khanyar. During search, 1.9Kgs of Charas Powder like substance and other materials like buckets, Grinder, thread etc were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Owaia Hussain Mir son of Sajad Hussain Mir resident of Tang Bagh Khanyar, Adnan Gulzar Najar son of Gulzar Ahmad Najar resident of Babapora Habbakadal A/P Ganderbal Batwani and Rehan Sheikh son of Lal Miya Sheikh resident of West Bengal A/P Shamaswari Fatehkadal. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khanyar and further investigation has been initiated.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.`
