Dr Rashmi Singh convenes public outreach programme at Manasbal

GANDERBAL, FEBRUARY 26: Commissioner Secretary, Hospitality & Protocol, Dr. Rashmi Singh, today convened a public darbar here at Manasbal as part of government’s ambitious public outreach cum grievances redressal program.

The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Shyambir; SSP, Sandeep Gupta, Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, CEO SDA, CEO WMDA, ACR, CPO, DDC member Safapora, DDC member Wakura and other district officers.

The programme witnessed overwhelming response from the public and delegations comprising social workers, PRI and community representatives, who presented a memorandum encompassing a broad spectrum of developmental and infrastructural issues concerning their respective areas. Senior officers of civil administration recorded the public grievances and demands so that remedial measures are initiated accordingly.

The people from Safapora highlighted their concerns including construction of a new building for Government Middle School Safapora, upgradation of PHC Safapora besides establishment of a youth hostel and a cold store.

The social activists highlighted issues related to Lar Canal, additional ration store at New Colony Gulabagh, unscheduled power cuts, avenues for self-employment and land allotment for Industries at Kohistan Colony Safapora.

Meanwhile, delegation from Tulmulla demanded Fire and Emergency Services in the area.

DDC member, Safapora, apprised the Commissioner Secretary of various development initiatives in block Safapora since the implementation of 3-tier panchayat system in the UT. He also demanded rehabilitation of stone quarry workers Safapora, bus service from Sumbal to Batamaloo and sought her intervention for timely resolution of the genuine issues raised by various delegations.

In response to the grievances and demands, the Deputy Commissioner assured the Commissioner Secretary that the raised issues would be given priority after consultation with concerned departments.

Regarding unscheduled power cuts, the DC informed that the issue would be resolved at the earliest.

Dr. Rashmi Singh appreciated the district administration for registering saturation under various public welfare schemes. She appreciated the initiatives of various departments like NRLM, Fisheries department, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Health, etc. and lauded the success stories shared by various beneficiaries especially youth who remain committed to their local art.

While interacting with the locals, the Commissioner Secretary thanked them for their constructive suggestions and urged upon them to spread awareness about the beneficiary oriented schemes ensuring more people get benefit from such schemes.

Dr Rashmi Singh emphasized the significance of such public darbars, stating that they serve as a vital platform to understand grassroots-level issues and ensure immediate relief to the people where ever possible.

She urged upon stakeholder departments to check the feasibility of the demands raised so that these could be incorporated in development plan under norms.

On the occasion, various departments had installed stalls to showcase their products and schemes.

The Commissioner Secretary visited and inspected took the stalls and enquired about the services and schemes being offered by them. She evinced keen interest local products especially made by Women Entrepreneurs of various SHGs.

Meanwhile, District Legal Services Authority raised awareness about Domestic Violence on the occasion.

Assistant LADC provided information about effective protection of women’s rights guaranteed under the constitution, especially for those facing violence within the family.
