TEETWAL, 24 Feb 2023: The Save Sharda Committee Kashmir Regd orchestrated a significant event today in Teetwal, Kashmir, where they organized a holy bath, termed Maag snan, at a newly constructed ghat along the banks of the Kishenganga River near the Line of Control (LoC). Despite facing challenges such as inclement weather and road closures, a dedicated group of pilgrims managed to participate in the ceremony. Notable figures among them were Mahaveer Thussu, Aditya Ganjoo, and other members of the committee. Their presence was acknowledged by SDM Karnah, Zaffar Ahmad lone, who warmly welcomed them, alongside a few army officers.This event holds historical significance as it marks the revival of a tradition dormant for 75 years – the observance of the holy bath on Maag Purnmashi, also known as Kaw Punim, in the Teetwal region. During the ceremony, the head and founder of the Save Sharda Committee emphasized the importance of completing the ghat infrastructure, including the provision of changing rooms, to enhance the pilgrim experience. Additionally, gratitude was extended to DC Kupwara for facilitating transportation, including a helicopter trip, for committee members to ensure their presence at this auspicious occasion in Teetwal.
