February 16: “`Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 2 vehicles and arrested 2 drivers in Baramulla.
A police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg assisted by SHO PS Tangmarg & PS Kunzer seized two vehicles and arrested two drivers, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Ferozpora Tangmarg & Pinjoora Kunzer Baramulla. The accused drivers have been identified as Mehraj-ud-din Beigh son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Bichipira & Irshad Ahmad Malik son of Ali Mohd resident of Pariswani.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.“`
