15th February, 2024 (Srinagar):
Dr. Piyush Singla (IAS), Administrative Secretary to Government School Education Department took a review meeting in Directorate of School Education Kashmir. Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. Tassaduq Hussain Mir briefed the chair about the arrangements made by the Department for upcoming examinations, opening of the schools and present scenario of the functioning of the Department. The meeting was attended by Senior Officers of the Department including Gh. Nabi Bhat, Additional Secretary to Government SED, Mr. Masood Ahmad Wani Deputy Secretary SED, Personnel Officer DSEK, Hilal Ahmad Bhat, Chief Accounts Officer, DSEK Syed Mubashira Hussain and all Chief Education Officers of the Kashmir Division and other senior officers of the Department. During the meeting, all field officers were put under strict instructions to ensure all arrangements for reopening of schools and preparations for upcoming examinations and involve all stakeholders to make the first day of school as festive celebration. Besides, this Dr Piyush Singla impressed upon all the Chief Education Officers to complete rationalization of teaching staff to ensure equitable pupil teacher ratio at par with NEP 2020, strengthening of Cluster System, extensive monitoring at different levels, implementation of NEP 2020 and other steps to be taken within a week’s time. The Administrative Secretary also emphasized the need for the execution of pending works within time frame, School Performance indexing and attention to all sensitive areas.
The Chief Education Officers were also directed to expedite the process of DPCs at various levels and to provide latest Vacancy positions of all Cadres at the earliest to ensure the conduct DPCs at regular intervals. He also placed the Officers under strict instructions to pay their attention towards HR issues which is of grave concern and provide details / information immediately to do away with stagnation.
Dr. Piyush Singla also instructed the Officers to direct the School Administrators under their respective jurisdiction to ensure that any of the basic facilities, if rendered non-functional during winters be repaired and restored before reopening of the schools. Secretary School Education directed all the CEOs being Nodal Officers for the SVEEP Programme to ensure availability of Minimum Assured facilities in all schools keeping in view the upcoming Parliamentary elections. The attendants of the meeting were directed to focus on all the related issues to foster a positive and inclusive School Culture, Focus on Student-Centered Learning, Provide Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers by conducting training programmes, Use Technology as an Educational Tool, Foster Effective Parent-Teacher Relationships, Create a Supportive Learning Environment, Encourage Continuous Assessment and Feedback, Engage with the Community, Emphasize Mental Health and Provide Necessary Resources.
The attendants of the meeting raised many queries regarding different issues which were on spot addressed by the chair and clear-cut instructions were given to one and all to work in a coordinated manner to improve standards for betterment of the society.
Later, Administrative Secretary Dr Piyush Singla along with Director School Education Kashmir Dr Tassaduq Hussain Mir also visited District Pulwama where they inaugurated AAGAZ Lab in Government High School Pahoo. The officers also visited Mehjoor Memorial Higher Secondary School Pulwama and distributed the regularization orders in favour of Contingent Paid Workers. Dr Piyush Singla also interacted with the staff and the students of the Institutions and discussed about the academic environment of the schools.
