SVEEP Awareness programme held at Shopian

SHOPIAN, JANUARY, 29: Various activities under Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme were today held at Sedow and Chotipora Panchayat of Shopian to create awareness regarding voter registration of the Panchayat Electoral rolls.

The team led by District Level Master Trainers, Bilal Ahmed and Ayatullah Rabbani also gave demonstrations on the EVM’s on the occasion. The programme on EVM demonstration has been going on in the district for the last one month.

The demonstration is held at every polling station and so far the team has covered Zainapora Assembly segment and is now operating in Shopian Assembly constituency.

On the occasion, the participants were briefed about the basic knowledge related to the electoral process. The participants included a large gathering of teachers, local voters, PEBOs, BLOs and other officers/ officials whole heartedly took part in the activities to encourage and create awareness among all the eligible and prospective voters about the voter registration and electoral participation.

Subsequently, all the participants were asked to take a pledge to cast their votes in the upcoming Elections.

Election NT and Booth level Officers were also present during the programme and shared their experiences among the participants. The participants were also informed about the schedule issued by the State Election Commission J&K regarding the revision of Panchayat Electoral rolls which has commenced from 15 January and shall continue till 5 February

Further the PEBOs were stressed to bridge the gaps between Panchayat and Assembly rolls and ensure that no voter shall be left behind during the ongoing SSR.
