Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Kulgam; Contraband substance recovered

January 16:Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Police party of PS Kulgam during patrolling at Bypass Kulgam near Chatabal Bridge, intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Mohd Sadiq Waza son of Ghulam Muhammad Waza resident of Ziyaratgali Kulgam and Bashir Ahmad Sheikh son of Gull Mohd Sheikh resident of Chawalgam who after noticing Police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. During search, officers were able to recover 07 Kilogram of Grinded Cannabis Powder filled in the bags from their possession.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 09/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.“`
