On 08.01.2024, at around 1155 hrs a massive fire broke out in Bagh Nund Singh Colony at the Traders store, opposite the 10 Bn SSB HQ. Immediately, 10 Bn SSB personnel rushed to the fire incident location with all firefighting equipments, teams and water tankers and evacuated trapped people and salvaged huge properties like garment stores, flammable & burning materials from the incident site and extinguished the fire using water and foam with active support of local people and later on Fire Service personnel of Batmaloo. During the incident, SSB personnel also controlled crowd at incident site as well as the traffic on the road for smooth movement of fire service vehicles to the incident place. The fire was brought under control by approx. 1300 hrs after a fierce battle with the flames & smoke. SSB was searched the area for any remaining fire and checked the electricity connections at the location. The cause of the fire seems to be electric sort circuit. The severity of fire was so high that it could engulfed nearby shops within few minutes. If the fire was not controlled by SSB, it must spread in and around of said Colony. No causality of life is reported, however, cloths, furniture, & Junk stores burnt and fire could have spread across the market. SSB personnel were credited for saving many lives, property and preventing the fire from spreading further. The active participation & prompt response of 10 Bn SSB personnel to douse & control the fire were applauded by the locals and the authority of police & fire service.
