RAMBAN, DECEMBER 21: Commissioner Secretary Cooperatives, ARI & Trainings Departments and Mission Director of the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), Yasha Mudgal, chaired a review meeting of Chairpersons of Project Grounding and Monitoring Committees (PGMCs) at Ramban.

 

The review was aimed to evaluate the physical and financial progress on ongoing projects, addressing crucial aspects related to their implementation.

 

Commissioner Secretary highlighted the untapped potential for scaling up agri-based production in the district. She emphasized the need for strategic interventions to yield desired outcomes, indicating that HADP is poised to assist marginal farmers in establishing agri-income-based units across the district.

 

Reviewing flagship schemes, Yasha Mudgal asked the officers of allied departments for ensuring saturation of schemes under their purview for the benefit of farming community. She specifically directed for prompt establishment of all poly-houses sanctioned under the scheme.

 

Acknowledging the significance of frequent field visits, Commissioner Secretary asked the officials to sensitize and encourage farmers to avail benefit of various schemes under HADP. She underscored the importance of achieving targets in a time-bound manner.

 

Commissioner Secretary reiterated the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in the production of high-quality seeds, rootstock, and fruit plants. She asked the officers to address all pertinent issues, aligning with the vision of Atmanirbharta for economic prosperity of farmers.

 

Emphasizing a holistic approach, Yasha Mudgal called for identification of short and long-term goals, ensuring a comprehensive and strategic roadmap for projects. She highlighted the need for synergy among stakeholders to facilitate seamless execution and coordination between different project components and teams.

 

Commissioner Secretary directed officers to strictly adhere to timelines for completing activities/components in all projects without fail.

 

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner briefed the Commissioner Secretary about the progress made under the initiatives in the district. The achievements recorded by the concerned sectors were underscored, reflecting progress in HADP projects across the district.

 

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized soil testing for establishment of Mother block of HD Apple at Batote. He revealed that the district administration is planning to promote agro-based businesses and make Cooperative Societies self-reliant through units on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. Additionally, he directed the identification of youth for providing wool shearing machines to modernize their occupations.

 

Extensive discussions were held on various HADP projects, encompassing the development of seed and seed multiplication chains, promotion of niche crops, cultivation of vegetables and exotic varieties, and the rejuvenation of orchards. The officers provided updates on the action taken in implementing HADP projects in Ramban district.

 

The meeting was attended by officials from Agriculture Production and allied sector departments.
