BBBP Awareness programme held at Hermain, Shopian

SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 14: An awareness programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was today organised by District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Mission Shakti at block Hermain Shopian.

On the occasion, officials from DHEW and NRLM highlighted the importance of educating a girl child, and stressed upon strict enforcement of relevant rules and regulations.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, is a step towards empowerment of girls through education and the organisation has been conducting awareness camps through the district.

District Mission Coordinator, DHEW Shopian briefed the audience about PC&PNDT Act and stressed upon education of girl child and gender equality.

Gender Specialist DHEW Shopian delivered an elaborative speech on empowerment of women, role of women in society and encouraged the female to fight against all the odds of the society, gender bias and gender discrimination.

At the end of the programme, a pledge was taken to safeguard the rights of girl children and to eradicate gender inequality.

The programme was attended by AWWs, Asha workers, NRLM staff and local women.
