Director Agriculture visits Arapath Vegetable Garden Anantnag

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 08: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited Arapath Vegetable Garden Anantnag.

During the visit, he took a tour of different sections of the garden and took stock of the different rabi Vegetable Crops.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture said that under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) a multi-dimensional project is being implemented by the department for the promotion and development of Vegetable sector in the region. He said Vegetable sector has a huge potential of revenue and employment generation.

Iqbal said the time when our vegetable production season is on, it is actually off-season for the rest of the country which makes us special and allows our produce to have a readily available market and good prices. He asked the farmers to take benefit of these special agro-climatic conditions and fetch maximum returns for their produce.

Director Agriculture asked young farmers/ agri-preneurs to take advantage of the different projects under HADP and contribute to the development of the agriculture economy. He said that young educated farmers are doing a good job and the trend is encouraging indeed.

He impressed upon the officers, Technical experts from the department to work shoulder to shoulder with these farmers particularly young farmers and guide them during the pre and post harvesting operations.

Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag, Ajaz Ahmad Dar and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
