DHEW Jammu organises awareness programme on women centric schemes

JAMMU, DECEMBER 08: District Hub for Empowerment of Women Jammu today organised an awareness programme on various women centric schemes and services here at Village Khour of block Mirasahib.

The objective of the camp held in presence of Sarpanch, Parmjeet and Committee Members, was to educate local women about different government schemes and services meant for the empowerment of women.

Under the Supervision of District Mission Coordinator, Shagun Manchanda, Sunil Kumar Specialist in Financial Literacy of DHEW Jammu under Mission Shakti noted the Grievances of the participants and assured to project the same for redressal with the help of the concerned Department. He familiarized participants about various welfare schemes offered by the Govt. of India particularly for women and stressed on the need of gender sensitivity to promote gender equality. He emphasised and imparted detailed information regarding the women centric schemes like scholarship schemes, SMAS (State Marriage Assistance Scheme for poor and needy girls), Pension schemes for old age, widow and physically disabled persons. Eligibility criteria of different pension schemes, procedure to avail the benefits of different Government services & documents required for the enrollment. He also explained Schemes like Ladli Beti and Sukanya Yojana for providing financial security to the girls. Emergency helpline numbers for women (181), child (1098), Elder line (14567) Drug De-addiction (14446) were also shared.
