DC Kulgam visits far-off Nagras tribal village; listens issues of people for early redressal

Apprises people about welfare schemes of government; urges youth to avail benefits of self-employment schemes

KULGAM, DECEMBER 07: Continuing the endeavour to reach out to people and provide governance at their doorsteps, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Thursday visited far-off Nagrass tribal village and convened public grievances redressal camp there.

The programme witnessed overwhelming response of people from Watihaal, Nagrass, Cheki Badwani, Silyalo and other villages.

Auqaf Committee members and PRI members also participated in this grievance redressal camp and put forth issues and demands of the area.

The visiting delegations of public and the PRIs unanimously demanded inclusion of the area with block Qazigund and sanction of PMAY-G huts for the beneficiaries of the area.

A delegation from Chekibadwani demanded establishment of a dispensary and installation of street lights in the village.

People from Watihal village demanded construction of Borewell for Irrigation facility to their fields.

People also demanded development and repairs of Naseerpora and other roads besides flagged-off other developmental requirements of their areas.

The DC listened to all the issues of people and some of the issues of immediate nature were also redressed on spot.

On the occasion, the DC apprised the people about various welfare schemes of the government and urged them to avail benefits of these schemes.

He urged youth to avail benefit of various government self-employment generation schemes to set up their business units.

He also instructed the concerned to develop a playfield in the area.

Jal Shakti Department was instructed to construct a borewell at Watihall functional at an earliest.

Addressing the occasion, the DC said that the Administration is committed for holistic development of all areas with special focus on development and progress of tribal areas.

Earlier, ACD apprised the chair about the status of ongoing work projects in the area.

Among others, ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather was also present in the camp.
