The DM called the subject to be of prime concern and importance for the society and directed the Sub Divisional Magistrates to identify and make a list of such children in their respective jurisdictions for their rehabilitation and bright future prospects. He asked them to submit the requisite lists within one week.

The instructions are especially for out of school children between the age of 0-14.

He also stressed on the need of involving Non-Governmental Organisations and civil society in this noble cause.

“Once identified, we can make an informed assessment about the education, health related requirements of these kids for a healthy future”, said the DM.

He assured that the district administration will make all possible efforts for education and rehabilitation of such children.

SSP, Dr Vinod Kumar also spoke on the occasion and said that it is pertinent that we help such children without which we can’t call ourselves a truly smart city.

“All children have the potential of a bright future and the same must not be scuttled. Saving such children is a noble task. The administration would strive to ensure that if any child is forced out of school or into labour jobs, out of greed, those responsible are taken to task”, he said.

He added that such children are to be identified and rehabilitated, provided education and shelter as per their requirements.

The DM also ordered a survey for identification of such children within a week and directed the concerned officers to prepare detailed plans for admission of such children in schools.

The meeting was also attended by ADC, Ansuya Jamwal; SDMs, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Harbaksh Singh; District Social Welfare Officer, Mamta Rajput besides other concerned officers.
