Closing Ceremony of Open Kashmir Taekwondo Championship -2023

The closing ceremony of Open Kashmir Taekwondo Championships was held at Indoor Hall Polo Ground, Srinagar here today. The event was organized by J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) and J&K Sports Council (JKSC) from 23rd to 24th November 2023.

The Championship was open for all and it observed a massive participation of young athletes. Players across different schools and clubs from the Kashmir Division participated. The Championship was held under the emblem of My Youth My Pride. More than 400 players took part from various schools and clubs. The medalists of the event will have a chance to represent J&K, UT in the upcoming LG Cup All India Club’s Taekwondo Championships.

In the Closing Ceremony Shri Ajay Kumar Yadav IAS (IG, CRPF SRINAGAR) was Chief Guest and Distributed Medals and Trophies to the Winners.

Shri Ajay Kumar Yadav (IG, CRPF SRINAGAR) while speaking on the occasion, assured full support to the J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) in future events.

Rouf Ahmed Bhat (Deputy Secretary to the Govt, Forest Department), Advocate Nilofar Masood (President Baramulla Taekwondo Association), Faisal Ali Dar (President, Taekwondo Association of Bandipora), Dr Shoket Bukhari (Lone Star Academy), JS Mehta (Physical Director, Cluster University) Maqsood Ahmed Khan (Dypt Manager Indoor Hall Polo Ground Srinagar) Sujat Maqbool Qureshi (Chairman Aspire World School),were Present there as a Guest of Honour.

Mr. Dilbagh Singh (Tennis Coach), Mr Tariq Lone (Chief Correspondent AAJ Tak), Ms Sharaza Malik (Sports Promoter), Mr. Farooq (Joint Secretary Kupwara Taekwondo Association) Dr. Yawar Manzoor (Physiothrepist) were also present there as Special Guest.

The Technical team, who displayed the fair play decisions throughout the Championship, was led by Atul Pangotra (International Referee, WT). In the referee panel, Aqib Gulzar, Suhail Ahmed Khan, Musadiq Qayoom, Faisan Ahmad, Aqib Muzaffar, Shah Faiq, Aqib Gulzar, Adeeba Khursheed, Danish Mir and Suwaid Ahmad.

Mr. Burhan Ud Din Khan, NIS Taekwondo Coach and Referee supervised the event as the Technical Director, who was appointed by J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) with full support of organising committee Rohit Sharma, Faisal Tanvir Wani, Anees Bhat, Suhail Ahmad Khan and Muzaffar Khan.

The event which featured players across different sections of the society, including Orphan and Para athletes was held under the aegis of World Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation Program.

While speaking to Technical Director of JKTA Shri Atul Pangotra (International Taekwondo Medalist/ Int’l Coach / Int’l Referee). He said we are very committed to create an Olympic level of atmosphere here at Jammu and Kashmir and we surely will organize and participate events that will only aim at promoting the athletes of Jammu and Kashmir across the India for various National and International championships.

Shri Atul Pangotra presented a vote of thanks to all the esteemed Guests, Coaches and Participants on behalf of J&K Taekwondo Association.
