KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 20: Dr. Devansh Yadav Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishtwar, who is also the District Election Officer (DEO), on Monday convened a meeting of concerned officers of Election Cell Kishtwar to review the Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) in polling stations across the district besides taking Booth wise status of the progress under Electoral Rolls.

During the meeting, the DC meticulously assessed polling stations lacking Assured Minimum Facilities such as drinking water, toilets, electricity connections, ramps, and internet, not meeting the prescribed norms.

The Deputy District Election Officer Kishtwar Naresh Kumar- JKAS informed the chair that a total of 405 polling stations in the district require 201 ramps, 71 drinking facilities, 100 toilets, 105 electricity connections, and 189 proper signages.

The DC emphasized the urgent need for these facilities, highlighting it as a statutory obligation, and directed the Public Health Engineering (PHE), School Education Department, Power Development Department (PDD), and Rural Development Department (RDD) to ensure their availability within the stipulated time.

Additionally, the Block Development Officers (BDOs) were instructed to conduct joint visits to polling stations to ensure the adequacy of installed facilities.

Spot directives were issued by the DC for the construction of 201 ramps at polling stations lacking them, with a requirement for certification to ensure compliance with gradient norms for existing ramps.

The CEO Kishtwar received orders to expedite the construction of toilets in polling stations housed within educational institutions, aiming to ensure toilet facilities across all polling stations before December 26th, 2023.

The AEROs were directed to get added the eligible voters from educational institutions within a week’s time under their supervision strictly.

Earlier, the DEO Kishtwar reviewed the progress of Addition, Deletion, and Transposition of voters by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in their respective polling booths.

The DEO meticulously examined the progress in compiling the Electorate Register. All BLOs received instructions to personally visit households in their jurisdiction to avoid excluding any eligible voters. Furthermore, BLOs were directed to conduct Summary Revisions after school hours.

In attendance at the meeting were Dy. District Election Officer Kishtwar Naresh Kumar, ERO (ADC) Inderjeet Singh Parihar, ERO (ACR Kishtwar) Varunjeet Singh Charak, AEROs, Dy. CEO, and concerned officials from the Election Cell Kishtwar.
