SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 10: Second phase of Back to Village-5 programme started today across the district, during which 34 Visiting Officers reached their designated panchayats early morning amid heavy rains and took lead in the proceedings of the ambitious rural outreach programme.

A number of senior officers including Abdul Hafiz Shah, Regional Director, Survey and Land Records, PO Poshan, Kulgam, CE JKPDC, GM DIC Kulgam, DD, SWD, Kashmir, Dy Sec, I&FC and other Visiting officers throughout the day remained engrossed in interaction with local people in their assigned Panchayats, with the aim to listen to their developmental requirements and take feedback on governance issues.

Reaching out to the rural populace at their doorsteps, besides facilitating community participation in the development process, remained the core engagements of the Visiting Officers during the much celebrated connect programme.

A multitude of activities were carried out in these Panchayats wherein Visiting Officers held interaction with PRIs representatives, frontline government functionaries and prominent citizens, besides visiting development work sites and reviewing activities of Village level institutions.

The Visiting Officers had detailed discussion with people on core issues being faced by the locals and deliberated on ways and means to resolve them.

The Visiting Officer and frontline officials of various departments sensitized the locals about individual beneficiary based schemes and asked them to register for saturation of KCC, ABHA cards, Golden Cards etc.

At Panchayats, they held detailed deliberations about realisation of deliverables by different departments, besides taking stock of developmental scenarios in the Panchayats.

During the day-long activities, the Visiting Officers also inaugurated various recently completed works including PMAY houses, besides inspected new works under MGNREGA, presided over sports events and conducted inspection of rural assets.

ADDC, Dr.Nasir Ahmad Lone, ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz also visited several panchayats and interacted with Visiting officers and locals and took stock of arrangements put in place for the programme and also held Pledge taking ceremonies in panchayats at Shirmal, Heer pora, GP Arsh and others on Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
