DLSA Ganderbal organizes a Legal Awareness programme on the rights of prisoners at Subjail Dignibal

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 08: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Ganderbal today organized a legal awareness programme on the rights of prisoners at Subjail Dignibal.

The programme was held on day six of Legal Services Week, under the guidance of Chairman DLSA, Ritesh Kumar Dubey, and the supervision of Secretary/Civil Judge (Sr. Division), Nusrat Ali Hakak and Chairman TLSC Ganderbal, Mohammad Waseem Mirza.

The Legal Services Week is being celebrated with the primary aim of extending legal support to individuals in need, and this initiative by DLSA Ganderbal is a proactive step towards fulfilling this objective.

The program focused on creating awareness among prisoners about their rights and educating them about the legal procedures and provisions that safeguard their well-being within the judicial system.

Adv. Ghulam Rasool Rather, resource person highlighted the rights of prisoners, enlightening the inmates about their entitlements and the legal mechanisms available for them to seek justice. He also shed light on the various rights enshrined in national and international legal frameworks, focusing on rehabilitation, fair trial, and access to legal aid.

He effectively demonstrated the significance of these rights in ensuring a just and equitable prison system.

The said legal awareness programme provided a platform for inmates in Sub Jail Dignibal to gain a deeper understanding of their rights and explore avenues that would enable them to exercise those rights effectively.

As Legal Services Week continues, more impactful initiatives will be organized by DLSA Ganderbal and TLSC Ganderbal, further strengthening legal awareness and support for society.

These efforts will contribute to a fair and just legal system, fostering a society where everyone’s rights are protected and respected.

The programme was attended by police officials along with numerous inmates from Sub jail Dignibal, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Ganderbal.
