Inspects Seed Multiplication Farm Chakrohi
JAMMU, NOVEMBER 07: The sowing of Wheat crop at Zero Line near highly sensitive Indo Pak International Border, Chakrohi was launched today by Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, Sh. Ram Savak in presence of Commandant BSF.
The sowing was conducted successfully with active involvement and facilitation of Border Security Forces (BSF) despite the recent incidence of cross border firing on 26th of October. About 10 acre area will be sown here.
Director Agriculture Jammu later inspected the Seed Multiplication Farm Chakrohi along the Indo-Pak Border. Quality production of Foundation and Certified Seed of different crops are being undertaken at the farm.
Interacting with the Farm Officers and officers from Horticulture Department said that all efforts should be made to increase the seed production to ensure the supply of seed produced in the local conditions with required quality parameters. The Farm Staff apprised the Director about Irrigation and fencing issues at the farm, regarding which he assured of every possible help. Director also instructed the Farm Staff for over all efficient upkeep of the farm and proper maintenance of Farm Machinery.
Director was appraised regarding various steps taken recently to improvise the farm mechanization and water use efficiency to increase the seed productivity and production at the Farm. , Farm Manager SM Farm Chakrohi, Rakesh Khajuria informed that during current Rabi season an area of more than 800 acres is being covered at Chakrohi farm which includes large area under Breeder/ Foundation Seed of Wheat and Oil Seeds and fodder varieties.
The Director Agriculture was accompanied by team of officers including Joint Director Agriculture (Farms/SLUB) Mahesh Verma, Accounts officer DAJ, DHO Jammu, , Farm Manager SM Farm Chakrohi, during his visit to the field and the Farm besides other.
