JAMMU, OCTOBER 31: District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya chaired a meeting of the District TB Forum and TB Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee at district headquarters to discuss their achievements and outline targets aligned with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program Guidelines.

The District Magistrate expressed the imperative for all government officers to act as ‘Nikshay Mitras’, extending support to those fighting against TB to facilitate their recovery to full health. He emphasised that the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police and Chief Medical Officer would spearhead the campaign to decisively combat TB and pave the way for its eradication within the district.

Target groups were told to be identified for extensive TB testing, focussing on diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The Deputy Commissioner presented strategies for comprehensive patient sampling and identification, in line with the vision of a TB Mukt Bharat. He assured the committee of unwavering support in their efforts to eliminate TB from the district.

The District Magistrate underscored the importance of mandatory sample testing within target populations as a crucial step in curbing infections in vulnerable sections of the population. The CMO was entrusted with analysing historical data to identify trends that could guide intensified efforts.

Discussions centered on strategies for preventive measures and strategic interventions, furthering the mission to conquer TB.

In a heartening gesture, the District Magistrate pledged to personally adopt TB patients and become a ‘Nikshay Mitra,’ setting a precedent for all district officers to participate in this commendable initiative.

Sachin Kumar later met with some patients who have successfully recovered from TB. He encouraged them to face the life with renewed vigour and also encouraged the young ones to take ambitious goals in life and study hard.

The DM earlier convened a meeting to review the implementation of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act. Renewal of registration and new registration cases were discussed while details of registered genetics clinics, laboratories, ultrasound clinics and imaging centres were also reviewed in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Dr Harbaksh Singh; District Social Welfare Officer, Mamta Rajput, MS Govt Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Dr Praveen Yograj besides other concerned officers
