Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dr. Devansh Yadav was the chief guest at the event attended by Mohd. Iqbal Zargar, Joint Director Planning and Dr. Ajaz Hussain Patigaroo, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer; Amjad Malik, Chief Agriculture Officer; Sajid Mustafa, Chief Horticulture Officer; Bilal Ahmed, District Programme Officer JKRLM and officers from the Animal Husbandry Department.

On the occasion, 29 newly trained Multipurpose Artificial Insemination Technicians for Rural India (MAITRIs) were equipped with AI Kits, Cryocans and other essential resources.

The primary goal of equipping multipurpose workers is to ensure the provision of round-the-clock Artificial Insemination, Vaccination, and Veterinary First Aid services to the farmers of Kishtwar District.

The MAIRTI scheme has a clear and noble objective to train educated, unemployed local youth to offer comprehensive veterinary services to rural areas. This includes Artificial Insemination, Vaccination, Deworming, and more, ultimately providing them with a source of livelihood.

Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav, engaged with the Passhu Sakhis and MAITRIs, emphasizing the importance of acquainting them with the HADP Programme. This knowledge will empower them to ensure that a maximum number of farmers, especially Self-Help Groups (SHGs), benefit from these schemes.

Dr. Ajaz Hussain Patigaroo, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, gave a comprehensive briefing to the MAITRIs about the services and schemes offered by the department. This included Artificial Insemination, Sex Sorted Semen technique (SSS), HADP, vaccination, Deworming, Castration, IDDS, IPDP, and more. Dr. Patigaroo also directed the newly appointed MAITRIs to work diligently in the field under the supervision of concerned Veterinary Assistant Surgeons.

Their role will encompass providing AI services to farmers in remote areas and educating them about the department’s schemes, ensuring that a maximum number of farmers can benefit from the Animal Husbandry Department’s initiatives.
