77th INFANTRY DAY CELEBRATION AT TITHWAL ON 27 OCTOBER 2023

Karnah 27 Oct 2023. The Shakti Vijay Brigade on October 27, 2023 celebrated the 77th Infantry Day to commemorate the landing of 1 SIKH Regt (first Indian troops) at Srinagar Airport, an act which turned back the invaders from the outskirts of Srinagar and saved the State of Jammu and Kashmir from a Pakistan backed tribal invasion. The Day was celebrated at “Shaan-e-Tithwal Cricket Stadium, Tithwal which has its own historic significance and is a testimony of courage and resilience of Army & local population.

The function commenced with Commander, Shakti Vijay Brigade and other military and civil dignitaries of Karnah laying wreaths in remembrance of our gallant heroes. This was followed with a cultural program and a musical fest organised together by the students and the people of Karnah. The cultural program commenced with a Patriotic Group song and Dance performed by the children of Army Goodwill School, Tithwal and a song by the students of Higher Secondary School, Gundi Shath highlighting the rich culture of Kashmir. The event culminated with interaction of Commander with the gathering. Approximately 500 people, including Army personnel, Ex-Servicemen and civil dignitaries, witnessed the 77th Infantry Day celebration.

The event has not only proved to be pivotal in strengthening bond between Army and local population but have also contributed immensely towards the Nation Building
