Oct,14:Department of Social Welfare Sopore conducted an impactful awareness programme on Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan at Sanctorum School Sopore.
The primary objective of the programme was to shed light on the growing issue of drug abuse in the valley, particularly its detrimental effects on the youth.
The event witnessed the active participation of several esteemed speakers who shared valuable insights and information about the prevalence of drug abuse.
They highlighted the role of religious teachings in guiding the youth away from this evil, emphasizing the importance of educational institutions in combating the drug menace.
Distinguished guests in attendance included ADC Sopore Shabir Ahmad Raina, SDPO Sopore Dr. Raies Ahmad, Fayaz Ahmad Lone Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Medical officer SDH Dr. Javid Ahmad Bhat, and representatives from TSL and health services.
Students from Sanctorum School took the initiative to shed light on the issue of drugs and other social vices prevalent in society.
ADC Sopore Shabir Ahmad Raina, SDPO Dr. Raies, and the Medical officer addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of awareness programs and encouraging them to make the right choices for a promising future.
Fayaz Ahmad Lone TSW, representing the Department of Social Welfare Sopore highlighted the importance of initiatives like Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan in actively addressing the rising drug abuse problem and creating awareness among the youth and the general public. He emphasized that awareness programs are instrumental in educating individuals about the detrimental effects of drug addiction, promoting a drug-free society.
During the event, it was emphasized that it is the responsibility of every individual to contribute towards a happy and successful society.
Shakir Ashraf, MD of Sanctorum School, stressed that the need for such awareness programs is crucial, not only at the school level but across various platforms, as the younger generation is increasingly being exposed to harmful activities. He emphasized the importance of coming together for this noble cause and playing a role in safeguarding the future generation.
He expressed gratitude to the Social Welfare officer for organizing the programme at their institution.
