Srinagar, 09 October 2023: Dr. Raja Suhail Iqbal Khan (Intervention Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist) won the prestigious best abstract award for his research paper titled “SUBCLINICAL LEFT VENTRICULAR DYSFUNCTION ASSESSMENT IN PATIENTS WITH ISOLATED SEVERE RHEUMATIC MITRAL STENOSIS BEFORE AND AFTER UNDERGOING PERCUTANEOUS BALLOON MITRAL VALVOTOMY” which he presented at ACC ASIA 2023 MANILA Philippines (AMERICAN COLLEGE of CARDIOLOGY) and brought laurels to the nation.
More than a hundred countries participated in this annual event.
His research hints towards novel concepts in understanding the pathophysiology of Rheumatic heart disease and can steer the management of this disease for an early intervention which might upgrade the present guidelines.
Dr. Raja Suhail Iqbal Khan, son of Mr. Raja Muhammed Iqbal Khan and late Rafiqa Iqbal resident of HMT Srinagar Kashmir has his roots from URI Nambla of District Baramulla. He is the grandson of late Raja Muhammed Afzal Khan who was ex MLA Uri.
He completed his matriculation from Husseini Public school HMT, Senior Secondary from Tyndale Biscoe and Mallinson school Sheikh Bagh, MBBS from Government Medical College Srinagar, MD Medicine from Sher-e- Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura, DNB Cardiology from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences Prashanthigram Andhra Pradesh and Fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology from Sri Jaya Deva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Bangalore. During his fellowship program he presented at the annual conference of Indian Heart Rhythm Society at Kochi and secured first prize in the “Challenging case and Cath lab nightmare” category.
He is presently working in Shree Balaji Hospital Kangra Himachal Pradesh as Consultant Intervention Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist.
He was felicitated by Dr. Fred Kusomoto (ACC Chair, an Electrophysiologist & Director of the Heart Rhythm Services Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida) and has been invited by ACC to speak at ACC International 2024 which is going to be held at Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, USA in Aril 2024.
