KARNAH: Director Riaz Ahmad Sufi from the Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution in Kashmir recently visited Karnah. During his visit, he assessed the stock availability for the upcoming winter season and had discussions with local panchayat members, including Peerzada Sayeed.
Director Sufi emphasized that the area is adequately supplied with essential commodities such as oil, rice, and sugar. He mentioned that gas contamination and soil issues are being addressed to ensure a smooth distribution process. TSO Karna Raja Umar Khan provided detailed information about the stock levels at the ration distribution points.
Director Sufi explained that ration supplies have been strategically stored in border areas since October to ensure that consumers won’t face difficulties during snowfall. He mentioned that there’s a storage plan for 30 thousand quintals of rice in Karnah, with around 15 thousand quintals already stored. Sugar supplies have also reached the region, and efforts are being made to provide 8,000 gas cylinders, with 4,000 already available.
Regarding consumer concerns, Director Sufi stated that they are committed to resolving customer issues and have taken measures to ensure the department’s efficiency. Fairprice shops have been opened in various regions, and an online process will be initiated soon.
During his visit to Tangdhar and Teetwal, Director Sufi interacted with department employees and panchayat members, assuring them that every effort would be made to address their concerns.
