DC Shopian leads mega sanitation drive at Mini-Secretariat, Batpora Adda, DPL

SHOPIAN, OCTOBER 01 Massive Sanitation drives across district Shopian were carried under Swachhata Pakhwada, under the nation wide call of “Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” today which saw massive and keen participation of people and volunteers.

A Shramadaan of one hour was conducted with an aim to make a sincere tribute to Mahatma Gandhiji, on his birth anniversary by effecting cleanliness of surroundings, fostering the values of community service and a prelude to Swatcha day.

The day marked the commitment of the community of adhering to sanitation and hygiene standards.

During shramadaan of one hour, participants picked up the litter from roads, parks, offices, schools, public places, water bodies, etc while disposing off it in an environment friendly manner.

All departments organized swachhata drives across offices and cleanliness drives were also held at public places such as bus stands, tourist spots, river fronts, and schools in both rural and urban areas.

Mega sanitation drive was held in and around the Mini Secretariat led by the Deputy Commissioner, Faz Lul Haseeb which was also attended by officers and officials housed in a mini- secretariat. DC and other district officers, officials took part in a cleanliness drive of Rambaira River.

Early in the morning, DC alongwith SSP, Tanushree and MC President, Subhash Koul also lead a massive drive and Rally from Batapora Stand, which was attended by hundreds of staff, locals, students and others including MC Councillors.

Similarly, DC, SSP also took part in cleanliness drive at DPL attended by other police officers, MC staff, students and others.

Pledge ceremonies were also held at all places where District/ sectoral/ block officers administered Swachhta pledge,Non-violence Pledge and Pledge against the drugs among participants in their functions.

It was mentioned that more than 2500 Swatchta events were done today in the district.
