GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 27: Continuing with its endeavor to reach out to the people at their doorsteps to redress their grievances and asses the developmental needs, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a public grievance redressal camp at Hospital Building Preng Kangan as a part of weekly Block Diwas programme.
The program witnessed huge participation of locals and PRIs of block Kangan who appraised the DC about the developmental needs in their respective areas.
On the occasion, PRIs highlighted the achievements in the current financial year and highlighted the developmental activities registered from the last five years in their respective areas. It was revealed that at least 50 works are completed in every Panchayat in block Kangan in these years besides block has also achieved remarkable achievement under various centrally and UT level beneficiary oriented schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC complemented the PRIs for ensuring equitable development in Panchayats as per the demands and needs of the people.
While highlighting the development activities in the district, the DC said that 62 projects are completed under MGNREGA convergence plan in rural areas besides 20 projects of Jal Shakti are also completed under languishing scheme so that people are supplied treated potable water.
Meanwhile, PRIs and locals put forth few issues particularly development of link roads, augmentation of drinking water supply, better health care facilities, development of Preng Park, library, and other issues of public importance.
Replying to the issue of dearth of staff in hospitals, the DC said that the staff dearth in hospitals will be fulfilled as per the norms and guidelines as vacant posts in health department will be filled at UT level very soon.
Regarding development of Preng Park, the DC said that district administration is taking tangible efforts for global tourism and sustainable tourism infrastructure shall be developed in the district so that best services to the tourist are ensured.
While interacting with the locals, the DC urged them to participate actively in the ongoing Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign for making every village a sustainable and clean. He also sought cooperation of locals for making every Panchayat as Nasha Mukt.
The DC also assured quality disposal of genuine issues in time bound manner and gave on spot directions for redressal of many issues of urgent category as per the competence of concerned departments.Among others, the program was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Program Officer ICDS, CPO, SDM Kangan besides BDC Chairperson Kangan, DDC members, Sarpanchs and other officials of line departments.

J&KASTA to conduct trials for Junior Soft Tennis tourney on October 3
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 27; The J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association would now be conducting open trials for selection of J&K teams (Boys and Girls) for participation in the upcoming 18th Junior National Soft Tennis Championship at Gindun Stadium, Rajbagh, Srinagar on 03-10-2023.
The tournament has been scheduled to be held at Tennis complex, IGMC stadium, Vijayawada, Andra Pradesh from 15th to 19th of October, 2023.
As per revised date for open trials, J&KASTA has urged upon all its affiliated district units to ensure their participation in the selection trials. The players must be born in or after 2005.
Earlier, these trials had been scheduled for 22-09-2023.
