Discusses Development plan with PRIs under Aspirational Block Programme (ABP)

REASI, SEPTEMBER 25: District Development Commissioner, Reasi Babila Rakwal today chaired a Chintan Shivar in Block Thakrakote to discuss a robust Developmental plan for the area under Aspirational Block Program.

Chairman Block Development Council, Thakrakote; Member District Development Council, Jij Bagli; Additional District Development Commissioner; Assistant Commissioner Development, Reasi; Tehsildar Thakrakote; Block Development Officer Thakrakote; other District & Sectoral Officers, PRIs and local people of the area participated in the programme.

Informing about the program, the Deputy Commissioner said that Thakrakote block is amongst 500 blocks selected under the Aspirational Block Program by NITI AAYOG, Government of India. She informed that this programme will be focusing on 9 sectors, 5 themes and 39 key Indicators. The 9 sectors are Health, Nutrition, Education, Agriculture, Social Development, Basic Infrastructure, Drinking Water, Sanitation and Financial inclusion.

Furthermore, she also informed that the objective of the program is to formulate the Block Development Strategies (BDS) finding the critical gaps and outline the priorities in each sector and services that will be offered to the public while making the best possible use of existing resources. She said the Chintan shivir will help to bring stakeholders together to analyze the existing situation, identify and prioritise key interventions for key sectors and agree on a strategy for accelerated implementation of schemes.

Issues regarding lack of Banking facilities and mobile connectivity in the area and main developmental needs were raised by the PRIs and public during the Chintan Shivar.

The DC emphasized on all the stakeholders to participate in Sankalp Saptah commencing from 30th September 2023 to be launched by the PM. Holding discussions on a wide range of issues of public importance, the DC exhorted the PRIs to work in tandem to hold thematic activities like Swasthya melas, Poshan Melas, Swacchta ek Sankalp, Krishi Melas, Shiksha ek Sankalp and Sammridhi Divas for rural livelihoods across all the Panchayats of block Thakrakote.

The PRIs pledged to work in unison for achieving progress in the process.
