SKUAST-K, KVK-Budgam roll-out 6-Week MSME Training for rural youth

BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 21: SKUAST-K, KVK Budgam today kick-started MSME training on ‘Entrepreneurship Development through Mushroom Production Technology and its Processing & Value Addition (E-SDP)’ at Gariend Khurd, Budgam for Rural Youth.

The programme scheduled for six weeks aims to train budding entrepreneurs in Mushroom production technologies and sharpen their generic skills in post harvest handling through value addition.

Training Coordinator, Dr. Vaseem Yousuf, briefed the participants about the aim and objectives of the training programme.

Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST-K, said that training like these are gateways to success that enable youth to carve a niche for themselves besides being a decent livelihood option. He impressed upon trainees to be interactive and regular to grasp the skill for self-employment.

Prof. Shaheen Kounsar, Head, Division of Plant Pathology, SKUAST-K, briefed the participants about the relevance of Mushroom cultivation as a livelihood option, particularly women folk.

Senior Scientist and Head, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone, shared that Gariend Khurd has been adopted for Zero-Technology Gap by KVK Budgam under which the Kendra shall undertake technology demonstration across various domains for optimal enrichment of the farming community.
