KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 14: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of the District Level Committee of NARCO Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review the measures for controlling drug abuse in district Kupwara.

Addressing the meeting, the DC impressed upon all the officers to make serious efforts towards curbing the drug menace in the district. She directed the officers to make an Action Plan for complete eradication of the drug menace.

The DC directed Tehsildars and Police to bring the identified drug victims to Rehabilitation Centre for their proper counseling and treatment.

Regarding Nasha Mukt Panchayats, the DC directed the concerned officers for re-verification of Nasha Mukt Certified Panchayats and share a list of left out Panchayats with the concerned Tehsildars.

The CEO present in the meeting was directed to submit the list of shops selling Tobacco Products within 100 meter radius of the Educational Institutions.

Earlier, ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat briefed the meeting about the current status of drug addicts in the district and measures being taken by the administration.

The CMO informed that 62 new drug patients have been identified during the previous month in the district cumulating to 402 patients. 505 Counseling sessions have also been held. Besides, awareness programmes have been conducted in 200 Health & Wellness Centres and 5 PHCs/CHCs.

ADC Kupwara, CMO, CEO, Tehsildars, Police Officers, Drug Controller Officer and other concerned attended the meeting.
