FIRE SAFETY DEMONSTRATION AND AWARENESS PROGRAM AT GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, TANGDHAR

Tangdhar, Kupwara 4 SEPTEMBER: Government Degree College, Tangdhar, in collaboration with Office of the Assistant Director Fire and Emergency Services Command Kupwara, organised a Demonstration -cum-Awareness programme on fire safety measures on 4/09/2023. Students, Teachers and non-teaching staff of the college participated in the program. In the training emphasis was given on fire prevention and firefighting and the use of the fire extinguishers. Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad said the goal of this Fire Safety Program was to mitigate the risk of fire that has the potential to result in property damage and personal injury. Resource person/expert from Fire Service Department, Mr Ghulam Mouhdin (LFM) said that the goal to mitigate the risk of fire is achieved through- Compliance with applicable fire safety codes, standards, and regulations, providing fire safety education and training, performing assessments of compliance and program effectiveness, Identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities. An experienced and a proficient team of J&K Fire and Emergency Services were welcomed by the students and staff of the college. The accomplished experts of J&K Fire and Emergency Services, demonstrated a fire prevention plan to staff and students and how to acquit oneself during the fire emergencies.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. HAROON Rashid, the principal of the college said that fire destroys property, cause injuries and takes lives. One of the key strategies to maintain a safe workplace and prevent fires is the fire safety training.
Mock Drill on fire emergency was also performed in the college premises by Ghulam Mouhdin Shah (LFM) and his team in order to create awareness among the students and staff. The programme was attended by the students and faculty members-Prof (Dr). Parvaiz Ahmad, Assistant Professor Ajaz Ahmad Padroo, PTI, Mr Muneer Ahmad Ganai, staff members, students and non-teaching Staff. At the end of this program, the worthy principal, Prof HAROON Rashid extended special thanks to the whole team of the Department of Fire Services for imparting valuable information to students, staff and the all departments who are present at the college premises on the occasion of Digital Week Celebrations.
