Speakers highlight Role of Parents to curb the drug menace

SRINAGAR SEPTEMBER 01:- On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad an awareness programme on Drug Abuse and prevention was held here at Tyndale Biscoe School to generate awareness among the parents of the younger generation who are the future responsible citizens of the society.

The awareness programme was conducted by Social Welfare Department Srinagar under the initiative of District Administration Srinagar to reach out to the parents of the students enrolled in different schools of the District.

During the awareness programme Experts/ Resource Persons spoke about the harmful effects of Substance Abuse among youth. They also discussed measures required to curb the burning societal issue. The participants, particularly the parents, were also sensitized about the means to prevent the spread of drugs in the District to save the precious lives and families from destruction.

The Role of Parents in handling Substance Abuse was also highlighted in detail.

On the occasion, SP Headquarters, Arif Shah, Ex. Director J&K Rehabilitation Council Mr. Ishfaq Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer, Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Secretary DLSA Srinagar Mr Jahangir Ahmad Bakhshi, Consultant Psychiatry from IMHANS Dr Fazal, Psychologist from Youth Development and Rehabilitation Centre, Iram Wani and other experts shared their expertise and professional knowledge and proceeded on early identification and signs of drug abuse, impact of substance use disorders of families and children.
