Karnah Kupwara . The roots of Pahari Cultural have been revived & Karnah Tehsil is leading from front in Kupwara District. In a unique conglomeration of Pahari events, a Pahari Kavi Sammelan was organised at Karnah by the Pahari Cultural Club (PCC) & All India Radio, Srinagar.
Being Anchored at the voice of Mr Zubair Qureshi, the event commenced at 1100 Hrs with an apt introduction honoring India’s Presidency in G20. Mr Abdul Rashid Lone, Chairperson, PCC welcomed everyone formally & also thanked Indian Army for their assistance for helping to establish this centre.
The event witnessed two performances of Pahari Poetry & dance by young students from New Light Public School, Chitterkote & AGS Hajinar.
The highlight of the event was the Kavi Mushaira presided over by Mr Prem Sagar Kalia & Nazamat was by Mr Ghulam Haider Nadeem.
The Kavi Sammelan saw a mesmerising reflection of the entire Pahari Community of the UT of J & K. Out of the total twelve prominent poets, six poets were from the Karnah valley, two poets from Poonch, one poet each from Bandipura, Surankote & Uri. The esteemed gathering also witnessed the presence of Dr Abdul Hafeez Masoodi, Kupwara, Director General, Survey, J & K as one of the poets.
The poets recited versus dedicated to G20, India’s harmonious culture, peace of UT of J & K and motivation to today’s youth. Poetry dedicated to the national flag & Indian Army gained stupendous applause & glean. In true traditions of a mushaira, the youngest poet to commence the ‘Shers’ was young Ifthkar Qureshi from Poonch. The mehafil raised applauses once Mr Prem Sagar Kalia recited his own versus & the audience stood mesmerized. The event culminated with an innocent Pahari Poetry by two students of AGS Hajinar followed by Souvenir Distributing by Chief Guest to all Poets. The same followed an exquisite Pahari Lunch hosted by the locals. This event has etched itself in the golden Pages of history that for the first time in the UT of J & K that such an august gathering was witnessed so close to the LOC.
