Kathua admin holds District Level Pani Samiti Convention to aware stakeholders

District Administration Kathua today organized District Level Pani Samiti Convention in the Auditorium Hall of Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) Kathua which was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ranjit Singh.

The event was organized to mark successful culmination of JJM fortnight which was held from 1 August to 15 August 2023 across the district where multifarious activities were held to sensitize masses about proper care of water assets and conservation efforts required from all stakeholders.

The event started with the water testing demonstration performed by the members of the Implementing Support Agency (ISA) team with Field Test Kits (FTKs).

ISA Expert JJM, Sajjan Srivastava informed the participants about the mandate of Paani Samitis who have a key role in implementation of JJM besides ensuring management and upkeep of the assets at the grassroot level. He also emphasized on adopting grey water management and rain water harvesting mechanism so as to ensure judicious and optimum use of water resources besides facilitating replenishment of water table.

While speaking on the occasion, Superintending Engineer, JJM Ramkrishan Gupta informed that under JJM fortnight program, designated Prabhari Officers visited panchayats to oversee the execution of the works being undertaken under JJM followed by submission of data report for further analysis to ascertain the progress besides taking feedback from the grassroot level.

ADC Kathua Ranjit Singh in his address said that under JJM every household is being provided with FHTCs ensuring quality of potable water besides imparting training to the members of paani samitis to play guardian role in maintaining JJM assets and their upkeep.

Among others XEN Jal Shakti, XEN Flood Control, CMO, AEE, JEs, ASHA and Sanginis were also present in the meeting.
