All India Radio is going to organize a hill poetry symposium and cultural program on August 24 in Karna area of Srinagar, Line of Control in the bid to celebrate India’s prominent role in the current G20 presidency. Pahadi poets hailing from various districts within the Union territory will gather at Tangdhar to showcase their poetic talents, reflecting the rich and vibrant pahari literary tradition of the hills. Apart from the poetry symposium, a cultural show will also be organized in which local hill artists will perform their art. Expressing his enthusiasm for the event, Maqsood Ahmed, senior producer of All India Radio Srinagar’s popular program “Shaherbeen And Pahari”, said, “We want to provide a platform for writers to interact near the Line of Control. This will help promote mountain poetry and music. He said that last July 27, a cultural show was organized at LOC Kiran in which thousands of people not only participated but after the show, Kiran became a tourist hub. Tourists also turned there to see the natural beauty and pahadi culture. He said that there have been such music programs on the LOC before by All India Radio and this time also. He said that these programs will also help in keeping the culture alive here.
