DC Ramban flags off 3-km Cross Country Race under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’

As part of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ nationwide campaign and to mark Independence Day celebration, a 3-km Cross Country Race was held today here at District Headquarter Ramban and other parts of the district.

The programme was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports.

Early in the morning, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam flagged off the 3-km cross country race in presence of Chief Education Officer, Devanand and District Youth Services & Sports (DYSSO) Officer, Dharamveer Singh from the District Administrative Complex (DAC).

As many as 90 persons including students, sports enthusiasts, civil society members and employees of DYSS participated in the 3 Km run starting from DAC to Phelti village. The participants also participated in the selfie with Tiranga competition.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the cross country run aims to encourage people to adopt fitness regimes such as sports and running to stay fit. “The aim is to motivate people to resolve to do at least 30 minute physical activity daily and live by the motto -Fit India,” he added.

To attract the people, the District Information Centre, Ramban has given wide publicity to the event through electronic and print media scheduled under the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign. Later winners and participants were felicitated by the organizers.
