Under the banner “Meri Maati Mera Desh” Campaign, Department of Tourism J&K in collaboration with District Administration Kupwara today organized a Media Conclave at zero line in Keran sector to promote border tourism in Kupwara district.
Media Persons from National and International Media Houses participated in the Promotional Event which included a Cultural Show and a Rally along the banks of river Kishenganga. The Promotional event also attracted the attention of people on other side of the LoC.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner asked the media persons to spread the awareness among the people across the country regarding tourism potential in Kupwara district. She added that the district provides a vast potential for tourism activities in border areas like Keran, Karnah, Bangus and Machill. She said that infrastructure is being created in these areas to facilitate the tourists.
Director Tourism, Raja Yaqoob said that tourists, from across the country, visiting such a far flung area was unimaginable 4 years back. He added that with the efforts of UT Government and District Administration Kupwara, tourists in large number are visiting these areas.
Among others, CEO LBDDA, Ghulam Jeelani Zargar; Dy. Director Tourism, Ahsan-ul-Haq; Dy. Director Recreation, Waseem Ahmad; District Information Officer Kupwara, Iftakhar Naseem and AD Tourism, Javaid Rehman participated in the event.
