DC Shopian distributes 74 Motorised Tricycles among specially-abled persons of district

90 percent saturation achieved till date, efforts being made for 100% coverage in near future: DC

In order to empower the specially-abled persons of the district and give support for their decent living, the Department of Social Welfare, Shopian today organised a mega distribution programme at Mini Secretariat, here.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb inaugurated the district camp and distributed 74 Motorised Tricycles among specially-abled persons of the district.

Addressing the event, the DC said that the Government is committed to ensure the welfare of the specially-abled persons and various measures are being taken for their empowerment.

The DC enumerated various measures taken by the Government for the welfare of specially-abled people including monthly pensions, free education and medical treatment along with training under vocational programmes and provision of prosthetic devices.

He stated that in the immediate future, all eligible persons of the district shall be provided motorised tricycles on priority basis so as to achieve saturation under the scheme.

Later, the DC also handed over Engagement Orders among four newly appointed Sangnes (AWWs) of the district.

The DSWO Shopian, Sanober Altaf; CDPO Nazir Ahmad, TSWO Farhana Tak and other officials of the Social Welfare department were also present at the event.
