Flag Off Ceremony was conducted in the backdrop of two days long Jashn-e-Gurez, which witnessed unprecedented tourist footfall and adventure sports such as Para Motor, Kishanganga River Rafting and Hot Air Balooning.
The event was also a precursor to inauguration of ‘Shinon Meeras- Shina Cultural Centre’, in coming weeks, which has been conceived and established by Indian Army in collaboration with civil administration and J&K Tourism to preserve, promote and celebrate the unique culture, traditions and identity of Dard-Shina People. The sense of anticipation for the inauguration, was palpable amongst the crowd.
Gurez is unique in its symbiotic relationship between Indian Army and the people, as also synergy amongst stakeholders. This sentiment was evident during the ceremony.
