Interactive session on ‘Discover STEM-2025’ held at S.P College

The PG Department of Chemistry and Career Counselling & Placement Cell, Sri Pratap College, Cluster University, Srinagar in collaboration with the JK Scientists group has organized an interactive session on ‘Discover STEM-2025’, here.

In his special address, the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Ghulam Jeelani Qureshi appreciated the efforts of JK Scientists group for investing their valuable time and effort for the benefit of the student community. Calling the merging of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as the currency of the modern era, he emphasized its importance for creating knowledge based economy and enhanced sustainability.

In the first talk of the day, Dr. Syed Mubarak Hussain, Neuroscientist University of New Mexico-USA, shared the details of his inspiring journey from a remote village of Budgam District to a top-notch University of USA.

He exhorted the students to seek admission in reputed national Institutes like IITs, IISC, ISERs and various CSIR labs.

Dr. Summaya an eminent toxicologist working at the University of Al-Kharj, KSA gave a detailed account of the flagship programmes offered by JK Scientists Organization. Her talk left an indelible impression on the young minds.

This was followed by a talk by Dr. Agha Shahi, Ramanujan fellow and expert on condensed matter, who dwelled on the strategies to be adopted and goals to be set for undertaking productive research.

Dr. Peer Abdul Haseeb Shah, research Scientist and Faculty at the Department of Bio-Resources, University of Kashmir gave a detailed guidance regarding procedure for getting admission in reputed national and international research institutes.

An online presentation was given by Anha Bhat, Process Engineer at Australian Nano-fabrication facility. She, in her talk emphasized the importance of morals, integrity and reading culture in the overall personality development of an individual.

Earlier, the event started with a welcome address by the Head Department of Chemistry, Prof. Sadat Hassan Kar wherein he formally welcomed the guests and gave a detailed insight of the programme vis a vis Career, Guidance and Counselling.

Meanwhile, the proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Syed Misbah Zahoor Andrabi and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Syed Raashid.
