DC Shopian conducts marathon tour of panchayats, inspects RDD Works

Stresses on expediting SBM works; calls for proper waste segregation, conduct of social audits

The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today conducted a marathon visit to various panchayats of the district including Keegam, Tukroo, Turkawangam, Zainapora, Safanagri and inspected a number of RDD works.

The DC particularly inspected under- construction works under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) meant for providing durable assets to panchayats for safe disposal of household waste.

In order to scale up efforts towards achieving complete saturation in rural hygiene and cleanliness, DC took appraisal of different projects being executed under the scheme and took inspection of the land patches at various locations of Turkawangam that have been identified for the construction of the Plastic Waste Management Units besides inspecting Solid Waste Management Unit.

Similarly, the DC inspected several Community Sanitary Complexes (CSC), Segregation Units, compost pits, soak pits, being constructed at various locations of the district wherein he emphasized upon accelerating the pace of work so that such projects are completed well within the stipulated time frame.

Later, the DC also inspected SDH, Zainapora, where he interacted with doctors and emphasized for proper care of patients besides he also stressed for cleanliness in and around the hospital.

The DC instructed for ensuring the durability of the assets and instructed ACD and BDOs to regularly inspect works and ensure quality and efficiency.

The DC asked the concerned officers to give priority to community works to benefit the maximum number of people. He further directed to resolve the pending public issues and bottlenecks if any on priority.

During the inspection, various local deputations met the DC and raised their demands of public importance particularly issues regarding RDD, Health and Animal Husbandry etc.

The DC gave them a patient hearing and directed concerned to redress their genuine grievances promptly.

The DC also interacted with the PRI members, prominent citizens and advised them to keep a close eye on the developmental activities being carried out in their areas to ensure that quality is maintained while executing the work on developmental projects.

Officers who accompanied the DC included SDM, Zainapora, Mushtaq Ahmed; ACD, ACP, BDOs and other officers and officials.
