In continuation to series of programmes being organized to raise awareness on harmful effects of drug abuse under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ in Kupwara district, a mega awareness programme was today organized by Social Welfare Department Kupwara in collaboration with Govt. BHHS Maidanpora.
Vice Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Mohd. Anwar Mir, Principal Govt. BHSS Maidanpora; Dr. M Ashraf Mir, Medical Officer; TSWO, PRI members, AWWs, Staff, Students and Parents attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chairman DDC Kupwara, said that such awareness programmes and seminars that highlight drug abuse are of immense importance.
Vice Chairman, said that the menace of drug addiction must be eradicated from society by holistic support of different stakeholders and everyone should come forward to curb this menace.
Addressing the students, the Vice Chairman said that students can play important role in spreading the awareness about harmful effects of drug abuse and it’s trafficking.
Vice Chairman asserted that teachers and parents must be cautious and maintain vigil on their children’s activities.
Vice Chairman further said that early intervention is critical in preventing the youth from becoming addicts adding that with firm determination and joint efforts by all stakeholders, this menace can be eradicated from the society.
Meanwhile, a pledge taking ceremony was also organized on the occasion to affirm that the menace of drug abuse will be eradicated.
During the programme various cultural activities were organized to spread the message of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Students of the institute presented a cultural programme and a skit which highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse and it’s trafficking.
Student performers were felicitated with the certificates of appreciation.
Meanwhile Handwara Police in collaboration with Education Department organised a seminar on Drug De- addiction at Govt. BHSS Qalamabad under CIVIC action programme 2023- 24.
Programme was attended by students, staff, parents and locals of the area.
