ADDC Bandipora visits Gurez Valley; reviews status of developmental works

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Bandipora, Ali Afsar Khan Wednesday visited Gurez valley to review the developmental activities in the border Sub-Division of Bandipora district.

The ADDC convened a meeting of officers at Dak Banglow Dawar to review the pace of developmental activities in the Gurez Valley and was apprised of the status of works and activities being carried out by different departments for the betterment of the people.

The meeting was attended by DDCs, PRIs, SDM Gurez, and BDO Gurez besides concerned officers and officials from the sub division.

SDM Gurez, on the occasion gave a detailed presentation about the achievements registered and ongoing projects in Gurez along with their present status.

The ADDC was informed that works are in progress in several major projects. It was given out that the new court complex was recently inaugurated by the Chief Justice of UT Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh in presence of District Development Commissioner Bandipora thus fulfilling the long pending demand of the people. The SDM also informed about the status of various works under CRF, BADP and other centrally sponsored schemes.

Ali Afsar Khan informed all the officers that Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais is regularly monitoring the pace and progress of developmental works in Gurez Sub Division.

On the occasion, ADDC directed the officers to expedite the work on ongoing projects and work extra hours to meet the deadline. He said there is a limited working season in the Gurez Valley due to which the officers need to work extra hours to complete the works before the onset of winter in the region.

He also reviewed the availability of essential commodities including ration, fuel and cooking gas. He urged the officers to stock ample quantities of essentials for the upcoming winter so that people do not face problems during tough weather conditions.

The ADDC also reviewed the performance and activities of key departments including agriculture, horticulture, Handicraft and Handloom, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Health and Education.

He directed the officers to regularly visit Gurez to take on spot review of developmental works and also asked them to mobilize the field staff for redressal of genuine grievances and effective implementation of different state and central sponsored schemes.
