DC Kupwara reviews progress under FRA

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan Saturday chaired a meeting of members of Sub Divisional Level Committee (SDLC) and District Level Committee (DLC) to discuss various issues related to progress/disposal of claims under Forest Rights Act.

The DFO Kamraj, Zahid Mougal who is Nodal officer FRA informed that 538 individual claims and 140 Community claims have been received and are under process at SDLC or FRC level.

The DC while stressing on coordinated approach for effective implementation of Forest Rights Act, said that all the pending FRA cases should be disposed-off within a timeline of one month.

The DC directed the Revenue, Forest, RDD officers and field functionaries to work in coordination so that desired results are obtained.

She also directed concerned departments to conduct Special Gram Sabhas related to FRA so that left out beneficiaries are covered under FRA and genuine families get benefited from Forest Rights Act.

The meeting was attended by ACR Kupwara, SDM Karnah, SDM Sogam, DFO Kamraj, DFO Kehmil, BDOs, Tehsildars and other concerned.
