The workshop was presided over by Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam.

Dr. Bilal expressed his gratitude towards the business community members from Kulgam district and emphasized the importance of industrial development, proper storage of products, promotion of One District One Product (ODOP) items, and the need to generate self-employment opportunities.

He threw light on the major products from Kulgam that possess immense potential for exports, stressing the significance of fine-tuning and perfecting the quality of these products.

As part of the export awareness cum e-Commerce onboarding workshop, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) joined forces to deliver a comprehensive session on export opportunities across various sectors.

The event marked the beginning of a series of workshops planned across the Jammu and Kashmir region to promote exports from all districts. It included comprehensive sessions on the benefits of exports, awareness regarding the India Business Portal and India Trade Portal, credit linkages for exports, credit risk insurance facilities, and the international market potential for products from the region.

Representatives from APEDA and FIEO collaborated to provide valuable insights and guidance to the workshop participants. The session aimed to equip potential exporters with the necessary knowledge and tools to explore international markets and enhance their export capabilities.

The primary focus of the workshop was to enhance and support exports from Kulgam, with a special emphasis on developing the district as an export hub under the District as Export Hub/ODOP initiatives. Participants were provided insights into the export potential of their products, the target countries, and the export procedures to be followed.

JKTPO, through these initiatives, has succeeded in bringing all export agencies and stakeholders to the grassroots level, ensuring maximum participation and benefits for the local exporters. The workshop particularly highlighted the ODOP product Garlic from Kulgam district, drawing attention to its exceptional qualities and export prospects.

Experts conducted detailed sessions during the workshop, covering topics such as the advantages of exports, the process of obtaining an Import/Export code, promoting local products in the international market, credit linkages for exports, and credit risk insurance facilities.

A.K. Bhushan, Deputy General of DGFT, enlightened the participants about the crucial role played by DGFT in international trade. He provided valuable insights into the documentation requirements, procedures for entering the international business arena, IEC registration, and other related issues.

The workshop witnessed the active participation of Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Sheep Husbandry Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, and officers from various line departments. Additionally, more than 150 farmers, Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs), fruit growers, industrial association members, industrialists, entrepreneurs and students from Polytechnic and ITI collages actively engaged in the event, making it a resounding success.
