DC Kupwara Interacts with PM CARES children

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan (IAS) Wednesday met with the PM CARES children along with their guardians and held an interaction in her office chamber at D.C Office Kupwara.
District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Kupwara, Hidaitullah Mir was present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the children, enquired about their Health, upkeep and education.
DC also shared some moments with the children and asked them about their aim in life, favorite books, dishes, and offered them chocolates.
She assured the children that every possible support will be extended to them.
Meanwhile the DCPO Kupwara apprised the DC that 6 “Double Orphan Children” from Karnah and Panzgam who have lost their parents, due to COVID-19, have been covered under PM CARES Scheme.
DC was also apprised that ex-gratia relief of Rs.50000 has already been provided to each child by District Disaster Management Authority, Kupwara and the children are being provided free education and health insurance under PMJAY SEHAT. Besides, scholarships are also being provided to them under the SAKSHAM scheme and other minority scholarships.
Pertinently, the “PM CARES for Children” Scheme aims to support children who have lost both the Parents or legal Guardian or Adoptive Parents or Surviving Parent to COVID-19 pandemic during the period starting from 11th March 2020. The objective of the Scheme is to ensure comprehensive care and protection of Children in a sustained manner, and enable their well being through health insurance, empower them through education and equip them for self-sufficient existence with financial support on reaching 23 years of age.
