Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, who is also Incharge Administrative Secretary, District Kulgam today visited Kulgam district and took stock of the developmental scenario of the district.

During his day long visit, the Secretary inspected various developmental projects . He inspected Drug De-Addiction centre at Kulgam and reviewed its functioning and interacted with the patients and staff and took stock of availability of facilities at the centre.

The secretary visited the Civil Services Library at Kulgam and interacted with the aspirants. He urged them to prepare for exams with dedication and wished them best of luck for their future.

Dr. Abid also visited Chambagund bridge, flood protection bund at Aadigatnoo, inspected progress made on development of Indoor Stadium at Kulgam.

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr.Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat accompanied the Secretary during his field tour.

After the field tour, the Secretary flagged off a group of trekkers from Chawalgam for tracking expedition to Kutta Khreng Ahmadabad D.H.Pora.

The Secretary later, chaired a meeting of officers at Resthouse Chawalgam to review the progress made under various schemes and programmes of the government.

During the meeting of officers through a powerpoint presentation, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, presented the district profile and detailed about physical and financial achievements under District Capex, PRI Grants, CSS, PMDP etc.

During the meeting, the functioning of all major departments, scheme wise and physical/ financial status was reviewed.

While reviewing the functioning of the Heath sector, the chair was apprised about the urgency of the creation of posts for District Hospital for better health care service. The Chair was also apprised about the requirement of creation of posts for Maternity and Child care Hospital to make it functional at an earliest.

The DC also informed the Chair about the measures and initiatives taken in the district to curb the drug menace, youth engagement programmes and tourism promotion festivals.

The Secretary sought details on diverse range of services and schemes from the district/ sectoral officers and enquired about interventions being made in the district for the larger interests of the public empowerment.
He was apprised about the status of major projects under execution which includes officers residential quarters, GB Hostel Kulgam, PRI quarters, SDH complex D.H.Pora, Qaimoo and other work projects.

The Secretary stressed upon the officers to give their best and ensure proper implementation of government programmes meant for the welfare of the people of the district.

Dr. Abid called for strengthening the grievance redressal mechanism, making sure about the timely completion of works under the ambitious JJM , and other CSS works, Aspirational Blocks and Panchayats among others.

The tour culminated with a meeting with PRI members here at Resthouse wherein Dr.Abid listened issues and demands of these PRI members.

Dr.Abid also highlighted role of PRIs in development and proper implementation of schemes.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather,ADC Viqar Ahmed Giri and other sectoral/ district officers of departments.
