Dir Agri Jammu inaugurates Training Program on Seed Certification via SATHI Portal

Director Agriculture Jammu, K. K. Sharma on Saturday inaugurated a one day training program on Seed Certification through Seed Traceability, Authentication and Holistic Inventory (SATHI) Portal here at Kisan Kendra Jammu.

In his keynote address, the Director Agriculture highlighted the importance of healthy seed for good crop production. He stressed on conducting timely inspections, sampling, testing etc, following all norms of online seed certification at the end of Seed Certification Agency.

The Director discussed different stages of the seed production chain including Nuclear, Breeder, Foundation and Certified seed. He also advised production of truthful level seed of niche crops through offline mode.

Joint Director(IT), NIC, Odisha, Dr Niladhari B. Mohanty, while conducting the technical session, covered in detail all aspects of handling SATHI portal including registration of seed growers, Inspections, Verification, Sampling and lab testing of seed. Hands-on training was also imparted for practical experience of the trainees.

Earlier, Joint Director (Extension), Jammu in his welcome address presented an overview of the seed certification scenario in J and K.

Joint Director (Inputs), Joint Director (SLUB/Farms), Joint Director (Extension), SCAs Doda, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Reasi , Udhampur & Ramban, besides other officers also participated in the programme.

Divisional Seed officer Jammu, Prem Singh Manhas presented the vote of thanks and Programme Officer, Rajeev Katoch conducted the proceedings of the programme
