The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Friday conducted a comprehensive review of the arrangements for the Muharram-ul-Haram related events at Sumbal, Bandipora.
The DC emphasized the significance of maintaining peace and harmony during the Muharram period. He underlined the importance of close coordination between the district administration, law enforcement agencies, and religious leaders to ensure the smooth conduct of processions and events.
During the review, various aspects were discussed to enhance the arrangements for the Muharram processions at Sumbal Bandipora.
On the occasion people raised issues related to healthcare, electricity, drinking water etc. While giving a patient hearing to the issues raised by the people, Dr Owais directed the concerned officers and officials for ensuring proper and immediate disposal of the problems faced by the people.
He further directed SDM Sumbal to maintain a close coordination with the people so that all the bottlenecks are removed to pacify the developmental works in the subdivision.
The police department assured the DC of adequate security arrangements to ensure the safety of participants and maintain law and order during the processions.
The concerned authorities ensured the availability of sanitation facilities along the procession route. The deployment of medical teams and ambulances, along with the provision of first aid stations, was discussed to promptly address any medical emergencies.
The DC expressed confidence in the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders to ensure the smooth and peaceful observance of Muharram at Sumbal Bandipora. He urged the public to cooperate with the authorities, abide by the guidelines, and maintain the sanctity of the occasion.
